Pledge Guarantee for Health creates $1 billion lending capacity
25th February 2014
In 2013, Pledge Guarantee for Health (PGH) officially spun off from its original home at the United Nations Foundation joining the newly-formed Financing for Development; scaled up its internal capacity to include risk, legal, global health and finance experts; constituted its Board of Directors as well as a group of high-level advocates; and began development and implementation of an in-depth monitoring and evaluation framework. In 2013 PGH’s operations created $1 billion in new lending capacity through a new 5-year $100 million guarantee funded by USAID and Sida. PGH was developed and launched under the Coalition’s auspices in 2009; the Coalition celebrates and congratulates PGH’s growth from strength to strength.
