New/Underused RH Technologies Caucus

The Caucus on New and Underused Reproductive Health Technologies is a community of practice whose membership cuts across all three of the Coalition's Working Groups. The goal of the Caucus is to help improve clients’ choice of available reproductive health technologies. The Caucus aims to facilitate information sharing focused on common barriers and challenges faced by a broad range of new and underused products from product introduction to scale up and more. The purpose of the group is to contribute to country-level efforts to achieve universal access to reproductive health services and products, and facilitate their use to reduce both unwanted pregnancy and maternal mortality and morbidity. The Caucus works to expand the supply of new and underused technologies through the public, private, and social marketing sectors to improve equity and meet people’s RH needs.

Over the last year, the New and Underused Reproductive Health Technologies (NURHT) Caucus has been reassessing the language surrounding the NURHT approach to product introduction and scale-up. To aid in this effort, we have developed a brief outlining the shifts to the definition and the criteria for what constitutes a NURHT within the reproductive health (RH) spectrum. At the same time, we have worked on a Theory of Change (TOC) to guide the Caucus membership's collective efforts.
