DFID announces call for tenders
26th April 2011
The Department For International Development (DFID), current Chair of the Coalition's Executive Committee, is seeking to appoint a panel of 5 to 10 suppliers to deliver Reproductive Health Services under a framework agreement. All reproductive health services programmes through non-state providers will be awarded to suppliers following mini-competitions under the framework. It is anticipated that DFID will spend £40 million per year through this framework to deliver its strategy for improving reproductive, maternal, and newborn health.
Appointed suppliers will be required to deliver a range of health services and commodities at scale, including but not limited to:
- social marketing and/or social franchising of reproductive health services/commodities
- antenatal and safe childbirth services
- nutritional supplements
- neonatal care
- safe abortion related services
- prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections
The geographic scope is likely to include DFID's 27 priority countries across Africa and Asia with a bi-lateral aid programme. It is anticipated that the framework agreement will begin in August 2011 and run for an initial 2 year period with the option for extensions for 1 year and then a further year based on annual reviews and ongoing need. DFID will accept applications from consortia for this work.
Responses are required by 20 May 2011, at 1400 GMT.
