Dear Coalition Members

9th June 2015

It seems like just yesterday when I took on the responsibility of chairing the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition. It was a little short of two years ago when I took the mantle from my predecessor Julia Bunting, in Delhi at the Coalition’s 14th General Membership Meeting.

The past months have been eventful beyond all our expectations. We celebrated the Coalition’s 10th anniversary as a global authority on reproductive health (RH) supplies. We have rolled out our Strategy for the next 10 years. We have navigated our members through the maze of supplies-related information and activities.

The Coalition now stands poised on the brink of the next 10 years, gathering momentum for the post-2015 development agenda and the sustainable development goals. It is a critical time for the Coalition -- indeed, for our community -- and it calls for strategic decisions.

As I leave my current post as Director of the Department of Reproductive Health and Research at the WHO, and start work in Kenya as Director Women’s Health and Research at the Aga Khan Foundation, I have also decided not to renew my term as Coalition Chair. The Coalition at this time needs the strategic support of a global organization and representative able to steer it purposefully through the coming years.

It is with the greatest regret that I have come to this decision as the Coalition’s aims and vision are dear to my heart. Soon, the call will go out for nominations for my successor, and I urge you to support the process with your ideas and contributions. I also urge you to continue the fight for RH supplies for all.

And finally, I thank you for the partnerships and friendships we have shared and will continue to share, and I thank the Coalition for fostering them as only they know best how to.

Warmest regards,

Marleen Temmerman
