Argentinian NGO cuts out middleman and sees prices fall

31st December 2022

Argentinian NGO FUSA is making savings of up to 50 percent by importing and procuring reproductive health (RH) products directly to young, low-income clients, thereby cutting out the middleman. Until recently, they had been buying RH supplies from private pharmacies at a higher price, but with RHSC support, they received permission from national procurement agency ANMAT to purchase three contraceptive products directly from a national pharmaceutical company and local distributors. In addition, FUSA has completed all the requirements needed to secure an import license from ANMAT, which will offer a wider choice of RH supplies directly from manufacturers at prices more than 60% lower than in private pharmacies. In anticipation, FUSA has expanded service delivery to two new locations in Greater Buenos Aires and Santa Fe Province. Register here for a Spanish-language webinar on lessons learned on 31 January at 11:30am EST.
