1 3 2 VAN PROCUREMENT FUNDING GAP ANALYSIS FOR 28 COUNTRIES REVIEWED PROCUREMENT FUNDING REQUESTS TO UNFPA TO SUPPORT EFFECTIVE USE OF FUNDING RESOURCES CONTINUOUS MONITORING OF SUPPLY CHAIN DATA FOR 37 COUNTRIES CONSENSUS PLANNING GROUP In 2020, the Coordinated Supply Planning (CSP) Group and the Coordinated Assistance for Reproductive Health Supplies (CARhs) Group merged to become the Consensus Planning Group (CPG). Bringing together the functions of the former groups, CPG members collaborate at the global level to address family planning commodity stock imbalances, while also planning ahead to prevent those imbalances from occurring at all. Housed under the Global Family Planning Visibility & Analytics Network (VAN), the CPG uses data shared within the VAN to improve coordinated supply planning and react swifly to urgent supply needs.2024 YEAR IN REVIEW $157M 45 53 $21.1M 6.9M 16 74K $157M funding gap identified, through March 2025. 45 countries were reviewed in 2024/early 2025 53 programs were reviewed in 2024/early 2025 $21.1M mobilized and/or allocated by procurers as per VAN Analysts’ recommendations for 84 new orders for 23 countries, mitigating critical supply shortages. New orders represented 6.9M CYPs. 16 orders expedited for 10 countries. Reallocated 74K worth of product by canceling/ reducing 3 orders and supporting 2 product transfers; 1 between countries and 1 between programs in the same country. Supplier Collaboration continued for one product where demand exceeded supply. This coordinated approach aimed to ensure equitable and transparent prioritization of shipments in order to minimize severe shortages and stockouts, while also reducing risk of overstocks. +$10M since 2023 $25.3M mobilized and/or allocated by UNFPA to address urgent gaps identified as part of this analysis. This funding represents an overall 9M estimated CYPs and 2.5M estimated pregnancies averted. $25.3M Outcome of the review Review helped to reduce duplicate orders, flag urgent needs for prioritization, and recommend higher or lower order quantities to reduce risk of stockout or risk of expiry from overstock. The VAN team collaborated with procurers on the use of VAN data, among other resources, to analyze funding gaps, supporting procurer allocations of at least $8.5M to 10 countries. $8.5M CPG members include representatives of UNFPA’s Supply Chain Management Unit, USAID, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), the Global Health Supply Chain - Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project, the West African Health Organization (WAHO), and the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition (RHSC).
