Supply chain management for health systems

Many of the quality and safety problems in health care are the consequences of the mismanagement of pharmaceuticals. Knowledge of the supply chain cycle of these products and the practical skills to improve its performance are important not only for management staff, but for all healthcare workers. Supply chain management activities are critical to the execution of any healthcare program and all personnel involved, whether it is an inventory manager in a warehouse, a physician in a facility or a procurement officer at the central medical store, should have a good understanding of the principles of health commodity management.

This course is designed to introduce you to the basic concepts of supply chain management with a specific focus on pharmaceutical and health products in a low and middle income country context.
