Reproductive Choice in National Biodiversity Policy: Advocacy Opportunities to Integrate Climate Change & Rights-Based Family Planning
There is growing momentum to better link global, regional, and national efforts around climate change with sexual and reproductive health and rights. One pathway to do that is through country-level National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs). Globally, almost 200 nations are starting-- or have recently started-- the process of revising their NBSAPs to better align with the Global Biodviersity Framework.
In this webinar, we were joined by David Johnson and Carina Hirsch with the Margaret Pyke Trust to explore their recently-published advocacy guide: 'Reproductive Choice in National Biodversity Policy: Guidance on How to Ensure PHE and Removing Barriers to Rights-Based and Voluntary Family Planning are Included in NBSAPs.' David and Carina provided important context to set the stage around NBSAPs and explored tangible opportunities for RHSC members and advocates to engage in national revision processes. They also highlighted suggested talking points to consider when promoting the importance of removing barriers to voluntary and rights-based family planning within these plans.
This webinar, hosted by RHSC's Advocacy & Accountability Working Group and shared across the Systems Strengthening Working Group and ForoLAC, builds upon RHSC's ongoing efforts to take action—through a rights-based approach—on climate change and RH supplies access.
