Now out: Landscape on volatility, resilience, and transformation in RH supply access

9th January 2025

A year-long, RHSC-commissioned, rapid landscape review is now online, shedding light on changes, disruptions, and opportunities in the reproductive health (RH) supplies ecosystem occurring since 2019. This landscape review, which relied on an extensive review of contemporary documents along with semi-structured interviews of 65 key informants, identifies cross-cutting trends with the potential to impact the availability and accessibility of quality, affordable RH supplies in coming years. These include insufficient financing to meet growing demand for products. In addition, an increasing number of natural- and human-induced disasters as well as political unrest will likely put increasing pressure on weak and under-resourced health systems.

Some counterbalance may be provided by the growing emphasis on locally led development, increased recognition of the importance of diversified financing, improved data visibility, and strengthened coordination across RH supply areas, including among public and private sector actors. These landscape review findings informed and shaped RHSC’s new operational Strategy for the coming decade. Please contact Véronique Dupont with your questions.
