Women at the Center: Insights on Women’s Experience Accessing Maternal Health Commodities in Kenya and Nigeria

Despite national commitments to free or subsidized maternal health commodities, many women in low- and middle-income countries face significant barriers to access these lifesaving medicines.

This webinar, hosted by the RHSC Maternal Health Caucus, will present findings from a 2024 study, led by 60 Decibels and MSD for Mothers, which captures the realities and experiences of 2,000 women in Kenya and Nigeria. We’ll explore how women navigate sourcing and paying for essential maternal health commodities needed at the bedside during labor and delivery — highlighting differences between public and private care, the burden of out-of-pocket spending, and the implications for policy and procurement systems.
