Member Groups
Member Groups Update: Following extensive member feedback and a rapidly evolving landscape for reproductive health supplies, the RHSC Secretariat launched a new Member Group architecture in June 2026. This new structure supports more focused, in-depth conversations by health area while offering a flexible, member-driven space for members to advance cross-cutting issues. Learn more about our new structure and how to get involved below.
Member Groups are the engines of our collective action. We bring together multisectoral experts to drive a shared agenda and accelerate access to reproductive health supplies through partnership and collaboration, improved data visibility, advocacy, systems strengthening, and market development.
RHSC has a range of different Member Groups – both Working Groups and Advisory Groups – to simultaneously create space for in-depth, health area specific collaboration while also facilitating partnership on cross-cutting issues. The Member Group Structure is designed to create opportunities for regular, consistent connection to the Coalition as well as structural flexibility and agility to respond to emerging issues as they arise.

Who can participate in groups
Most RHSC Member Groups are open to anyone working on reproductive health supplies, including individuals without affiliation. Some groups restrict membership to specific stakeholders, such as manufacturers, or due to regulations on sharing sensitive data or intellectual property.
Working Groups
Working Groups are the RHSC-driven foundation of Member Groups, enabling issue identification, prioritization, and targeted action. Working Groups create space for in-depth collaboration on critical barriers to RH supply security.
Menstrual Health Supplies Working Group
We improve access to menstrual health supplies by working with different partners to develop markets and agree on the best ways to get supplies to people. Current priorities include making products more affordable, improving data, setting product standards, and better linking menstrual and reproductive health.
Safe Abortion Supplies Working Group
Through partnerships, we improve access to safe abortion supplies by sharing better data, aligning advocacy, and addressing supply chain barriers. Current priorities include adapting to policy changes, improving product quality, and securing funding and procurement in LMICs.
Advisory Groups
Advisory Groups are member-driven, enabling technical support on cross-cutting issues, bringing Working Groups together. They are flexible, emerging as needed and dissolving once the need is resolved. Applications for new Advisory Groups will open in November 2026.
RHSC released a new Member Group structure in June 2026. As part of our transition to this new group architecture, our Legacy Groups will begin sunsetting in July 2026, with a transition period planned through October 2026. During this period, Legacy Groups will host transition meetings to ensure that group priorities are handed over to the new Working Group structure to prioritize continuity and member engagement. Additional details around Legacy Group transitions will be sent out via the relevant listservs. The FAQ below also helps members identify the new Member Group that will best support their continued engagement. The Legacy Groups are not currently accepting new members.
- Advocacy and Accountability Working Group: The A&AWG worked to create an enabling environment for reproductive health supplies through advocacy on policy, financing, and programs. Under RHSC’s new structure, advocacy will be embedded across the Working Groups, allowing for more focused and issue-specific efforts. The Policy & Financing Advisory Group will continue to bring a policy and financing perspective while supporting advocacy objectives.
- Systems Strengthening Working Group: SSWG focused on improving supplies security by strengthening the systems needed to ensure reliable and predictable RH supply access through better alignment, data, and coordination. In our new structure, systems strengthening remains a core issue, integrated into the Working Groups, enabling an in-depth, health area- specific focus.
- Market Development Approaches Working Group: MDAWG focused on improving RH supply security through a greater focus on the ‘total market,’ and facilitating overall market growth, inclusive of the private sector. Market development approaches remain a critical lever within RHSC’s new structure, with each Working Group taking on a market development lens specific to the relevant health area (or stakeholder perspective, in the case of the Manufacturer’s Group).
- New & Underused Reproductive Health Technologies Caucus: The NURHT Caucus helped increase the choice of reproductive health technologies through information-sharing and accelerating the adoption of new and underused RH supplies and technologies. Product innovation, introduction, and scale-up remains central to RHSC’s Member Groups. Working Group members will focus on research and development, product introduction, and product scale barriers.
- SECONAF: SECONAF (Sécurité Contraceptive en Afrique Francophone) created a space for RHSC Members to come together to improve RH (SRH if we are making this change now) commodity security through shared dialogue, advocacy, and collective action through a shared language (French) and a focus on Francophone countries. While SECONAF is no longer actively convening, the listserv for SECONAF remains in tact for members who would like to connect, disseminate resources, or elevate supply-related challenges in French. Any members who are interested in joining SECONAF can do so here.
What are the requirements to join a Member Group?
For most of our Member Groups, membership is open to any individual – regardless of organizational affiliation – working on issues related to RH supply security. A few of our Member Groups have membership criteria – for example, the Manufacturers Working Group is open only to product manufacturers – to facilitate a safe, trusted space for members to address sensitive issues.
How much time commitment is expected from group members?
RHSC membership is what you make of it. There are no required time commitments from members (with the exception of those who hold leadership positions). We invite all our members to participate and contribute in the way that works best for them. Each Member Group jointly determines its meeting and webinar cadence based on the needs of members within that individual group. More active participation in the group activities and listservs typically results in greater membership benefits.
Can I participate in multiple member groups simultaneously?
Yes. Members can join as many groups as they like. Our Working Groups are structured to focus in more depth on a specific RH supply area (like contraceptives or maternal health) or stakeholder group (manufacturers), while our Advisory Groups are cross-cutting, working across the four health areas. Join any of the open groups that meet your needs or where you feel best-positioned to contribute.
What resources and support does RHSC provide to Member Groups?
Across the Member Group Structure, RHSC provides Secretariat staff team to support with both operational oversight as well as technical assistance. We offer live meetings as well as offline engagement and partnership. On occasion, RHSC offers small grants through the Member Groups to address a specific supply-related barrier or challenge.
Why did RHSC's Member Group structure change?
In 2026, we launched a new Member Group structure to better respond to the needs of RHSC members. Built on extensive consultations with our membership, the new structure enables more in-depth collaboration across each health area, while also maintaining agility and flexibility to respond to emerging needs, particularly as our members navigate a new normal in the global health landscape.
How was this new structure determined?
The new Member Group structure was built on a wide range of member feedback and consultations. This included member-wide surveys, consultations during our 10-year Strategy process, a dedicated Task Force within RHSC's Secretariat, input from the Chairs and Co-Chairs from our former structure, and external guidance from a change management consultant.
How do I participate in the new Member Group structure if my group sunsets?
While our Member Group structure is different, all the issue areas we collaborated on before remain. Please explore the new groups and determine where your interests are best aligned. While dedicated groups on advocacy & accountability, systems strengthening, market development, and product introduction have transitioned, these thematic areas will be explored by health area within the Working Groups.
What stays the same in the new structure?
At the heart of our new structure is collective action and a belief that no single organization can solve supply-related issues on its own. The new Member Group structure, continues to prioritize collaboration and partnership. We still have dedicated space for each of RHSC's four health areas — contraception, maternal health, safe abortion, and menstrual health — as well as space for cross-cutting collaboration.
Do the governance structures remain the same?
Why is there an Advisory Group on Policy and Financing rather than “Advocacy?"
Most advocacy-related conversations and collaboration will happen through RHSC's Working Groups, enabling more in-depth advocacy efforts unique to each of the health areas or manufacturer-related issues. The Policy and Financing Advisory Group recognizes the rapidly evolving landscape for global health and a need to ensure that members have access to a cross-cutting space to address concerns related to policy and financing-related changes.
Where does RHSC's climate-related work sit?
RHSC has a number of emerging climate-related scopes of work. These conversations will continue within the Working Groups or Advisory Groups, as relevant. Members are encouraged to continue to elevate climate-related challenges and opportunities within these groups.
Will I be moved from one group to another automatically?
It depends. For the groups that remain more or less the same (e.g. the Menstrual Health Supplies Workstream à the Menstrual Health Supplies Working Group), members will be transferred. All members from NURHT, A&AWG, MDAWG, and SSWG have also been added to the new Contraceptive Supplies Working Group. You can opt easily out by clicking 'unsubscribe' on member emails or contacting us secretariat@rhsupplies.org.
What happens to all the work done in my old Implementing Mechanism?
All prior resources, outputs, webinars, and other work that happened in previous IMs has been maintained. These resources have found new 'homes' in the most relevant Member Group pages and within RHSC's Resources & Publications Database? (Is this the right framing) If there's anything you are looking for and can't find, please email us at secretariat@rhsupplies.org.
Why is there a new focused group on Contraceptive Supplies?
When RHSC first started, each of the working groups -- Advocacy & Accountability, Systems Strengthening, and Market Development Approaches -- focused on contraceptive supply access through different lenses. As RHSC grew, these groups took on other health areas and contraceptive supplies became the only group without a dedicated group for conversations on health area specific needs.
How can members apply to start new Advisory Groups within this structure?
We will launch Advisory Group applications in November 2026. Members will need to demonstrate member interest, proposed leadership, and evidence that the issue would be cross-cutting (across Working Groups). When we launch applications, we will be updating this page with specific criteria, guidance on applying, and a formal application process. Stay tuned for more.
What is an Implementing Mechanism? How is it different from a Member Group?
'Implementing Mechanism' is the legacy term from our former Member Group Structure. We updated the group names to better reflect what they do, and to respond to member feedback that 'implementing mechanism' was confusing. Where you see 'implementing mechanism' or 'IM,' this refers to a former group within our structure.
I used to participate in A&AWG, MDAWG, SSWG, or NURHT. Where do I go now?
Advocacy & accountability, market development, systems strengthening, and product introduction and scale-up remain critical approaches within our new Member Group Structure. Each of these approaches will be embedded into the core approach of the new Working Groups – enabling more health area specific depth and nuance to conversation and activities. We encourage you to join the Working Group that best aligns with your work. Our cross-cutting Advisory Groups will also leverage these approaches based on the specific scope/focus of the group.
