First Meeting, Washington DC, April 2004

The World Bank chaired and hosted the first meeting of what was intended to be a regular forum for key players to share organizational priorities and develop joint strategies to move toward full supply of reproductive health (RH) commodities in developing countries. The initial focus was on contraceptives, including condoms. The meeting was held at the World Bank offices in Washington DC on April 27-28, 2004.

The Supply Initiative worked closely with the World Bank and meeting participants in organizing and facilitating the meeting. Participants included multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors, foundations, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The group identified a number of areas in which their collective action could positively affect the availability of RH supplies at the country level.
