LEAP continues to serve as go-to resource
13th February 2023
A recent RHSC-hosted webinar was a welcome reminder that the RHSC LEAP Report continues to be a relevant and useful resource for the reproductive health supply community. The report’s data informed the analyses shared in the webinar Modeling the Case for Injectable Contraceptives Manufacturing in Sub-Saharan Africa, and results from LEAP have also been featured in a recent analysis by SEMA on key challenges and opportunities for resilient sexual and reproductive health procurement and financing and in an analysis developed by IQVIA under the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project to assess the profitability of hormonal contraceptive manufacturing in sub-Saharan Africa. LEAP provides market insights on family planning commodities, safe abortion and post-abortion care supplies, menstrual hygiene products, and key maternal health drugs. Providing detailed analysis of both the current market and future scenarios, LEAP data is available for 129 low- and middle-income countries, as well as aggregated by geographic regions and donor priorities.
“We are happy that LEAP can be a resource to the RHSC community. Over the past few years, we have made efforts not only to produce the report itself, but to build tools that make the data available in a number of different ways to meet the needs of different partners. Whether that be downloading a full database of the underlying data to incorporate into other analyses, as done for the recent Modeling the Case for Injectable Contraceptives Manufacturing in Sub-Saharan Africa analysis or using the custom reports to access graphs and key findings for a particular country or region” said Michele Weinberger, the technical lead on LEAP.
