Twelve people from the LAC region have won LAPTOP Scholarships to further their studies in supply chain management. The scholars are based in Argentina, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Peru. Eleven out of the 12 scholars are woman, with eight currently working in the countries’ health ministries. Helen Leiva (Executive Director) from RHSC member organization Tan U’xil in Guatemala was an adjudicator on the selection panel. She said: “This process showed strong interest from young people, especially women, in supply chain work, which is crucial as contraceptive shortages threaten reproductive rights in Latin America. Despite their motivation, though, they face real barriers like limited roles and experience requirements, making it essential to invest in them for a more equitable and sustainable future. The LAPTOP Scholarships are a welcome initiative.”
