Twelve countries in West Africa have agreed unanimously to a VAN-based joint supply plan review process involving country-level requests for action to manage FP commodity imbalances and regional analysis of procurement funding and aggregated demand. This is a key milestone in the data sharing and alignment necessary for pooled procurement and could, in future, align with the West African Health Organization’s (WAHO) efforts towards a pooled procurement mechanism. The 12 ECOWAS countries made this commitment during a meeting of the Regional Committee for the Visibility of Reproductive Health Logistics Data in West Africa at the recent WAHO Early Warning System Working Workshop in Cotonou, Benin.
