A new VAN feature meets Basic Member countries where they are at

19th August 2026

Basic VAN member countries are sharing praise for a new tool that makes it easier to share their inventory data with the VAN. The Inventory Visibility Form (Inventory Vis) replaces a form from a previous system whose outdated technology made it difficult to edit and use. Users requested an easier form, and the VAN team responded with this solution. Inventory Vis allows countries to give additional details about their inventory, helping analysts to more easily interpret the data. It also includes new fields to confirm when shipments have been received in the national warehouse, which allows the VAN to automatically upload shipment confirmations.

These new features are leveraging a low-tech solution to help streamline VAN processes. Burundi and Uganda are the first two countries using Inventory Vis following trainings in July. The transition has been seamless, with both countries sharing their positive feedback and indicating that it is now much easier to manage their inventory data uploads to the VAN. Thirteen additional Basic member countries will transition to Inventory Vis within the next year, which will streamline efficiency for the Basic member inventory data upload process.
