UNFPA/European Commission organize joint training on RHCS

5th May 2008

UNFPA and the European Commission are sponsoring a training workshop to build in-country capacity on reproductive health commodity security (RHCS) for conflict and post-conflict countries. The workshop, which is taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa, from April 28 to May 9, 2008,  is part of the European Commission's commitment to support UNFPA in strengthening RHCS - most specifically in ACP conflict and post-conflict countries. The goal of the workshop is to provide the participants with the technical skills needed to undertake in-country training of others in the areas of logistics management information system, supply management for conflict and post-conflict countries, and advocacy.

Participants include trainers and practitioners from Burundi, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Chad and Somalia, as well as UNFPA country office focal points on RHCS from Burundi, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Chad and Somalia.

The Joint ACP/UNFPA/EC programme for ACP countries most in need of achieving RHCS aims to improve accessibility and use of RH commodities by providing support for the procurement of RH commodities and for the strengthening of national capacity to manage RH commodity systems.
