Young People and Contraceptive Access - An advocacy and communications handbook

16/11/2017

In 2017 the Reproductive Health Supplies Youth Caucus developed ‘The Youth Caucus Key Messages’, 18 evidence-based policy recommendations that are vital to ensure universal access to high quality and affordable contraceptive supplies for young people. These recommendations tackle the barriers young people face and focus on the lack of age-appropriate information, transportation issues, misconceptions, lack of trust in the decision-making and independence of young people, etc. Now, we have developed a advocacy and communications handbook that will explain how to best use the key messages, to advocate adolescents’ access to reproductive health supplies, communicate online about reproductive health topics and explain why young people need a specific focus.

This webinar organized by the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition’s Youth Caucus, will present a draft of the Key Messages advocacy and communications handbook and its different chapters in order to gather feedback and suggested improvements. Additionally, one of the youth caucus members will also share her personal experiences of working with the key Messages advocacy toolkit ( an integral part of the handbook). This webinar will ask seldom-heard questions and explore how to increase the availability of youth-centered RH supplies.

Agenda

  • Presenting the Key Messages handbook (David Eeckhout, interim Advocacy Officer, Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition)
  • Experiences from the key Messages workshop during the 2nd Bangladesh Youth Conference on Family Planning (Sadia Rahman, Associate Program Officer, SERAC-Bangladesh)
