Establishing and managing business relationships with other organizations is a key purchasing responsibility. The legal requirements for conducting the requisite activities are complex and include laws in the areas of contracts, agency and antitrust, to name a few. Therefore, purchasing and supply management professionals need to know their legal rights, responsibilities and obligations to protect themselves and their organizations. While they must understand applicable laws in the country in which they are located, they also must be aware of laws in the suppliers\' countries when sourcing internationally.
