Course objective

eProcurement has the potential to deliver significant efficiency gains and financial savings for governments and organisations.

Drawing on Crown Agents’ vast expertise in public procurement, this course identifies how manual procurement processes and their management can be ’e’-enabled.

It demonstrates how it can be used to optimise procurement performance, exploiting powerful ICT (Information and Communication Technology) tools.

The course will address common challenges including:

  • Excessive timescales for completing procurement
  • High prices for goods, works and services
  • Excessive (but hidden) procurement transaction costs
  • Lack of procurement data
  • Issues with spend visibility and transparency
  • Lack of procurement expertise within procuring departments
  • Limited co-ordination across government to undertake collaborative procurement
  • Problems of access to procurement opportunities by SMEs due to complex procedures and high bid preparation costs
  • Maverick ‘off-system’ spending and non-compliance with procurement laws, regulations and best practice

COURSE OBJECTIVES: On completion, you will be able to:

  • Assess your organisation’s readiness to adopt eProcurement
  • Create an optimal e-strategy for your procurement operation
  • Produce a strategic e-procurement action plan for your organisation
  • Implement and operate an e-procurement system
  • Ensure sustainability and success of your e-procurement system
