Action Canada for Population and Development (ACPD) is using Canada’s upcoming presidency of the G8 to heighten global awareness of Canada’s contribution to commodity security, and to increase Canadian government support for the issue and for the work of the Coalition.

Objectives:

  • To actively and regularly provide the Coalition and its Working Groups, particularly the RMA WG, with advocacy intelligence during the Canadian G8 presidency
  • To increase Canada’s contribution for reproductive health supplies in anticipation of Canada hosting the G8 in 2010, laying the groundwork for Canada/CIDA to join the Coalition in the future
  • To analyze the extent of expenditures on reproductive health supplies within Canada in order to increase donor commitment

Activities conducted under this project will include building and strengthening relationships with G8 officials, regular communications with the Coalition membership, and a policy and budget analysis of Canadian support for reproductive health supplies. The end goal of this two-year project is increased support for reproductive health supplies from the G8.
