The Coalition's Strategic Plan includes a focus on increased availability, predictability, and sustainability of financing for RH supplies at the country level. In order to achieve this, supportive policy environments must be nurtured through the implementation of effective advocacy approaches at country level, taking into account both context and environment. This workstream advances practical and evidence-based in-country advocacy and financing strategies to further reproductive health commodity security in less developed countries. The purpose of the workstream is to link global partners and in-country advocates to ensure implementation of powerful and workable strategies for increased RH financing leading to measurable results.
Objectives:
- To provide a venue for country-to-country collaboration and global partner coordination with less developed countries in order to increase availability, predictability, and sustainability of financing for RH supplies.
- To generate strategies for evidence-based in-country advocacy to increase availability, predictability and sustainability of financing for RH supplies.
- To share information on country level advocacy approaches to increase availability, predictability and sustainability of financing for RH supplies.
Members of the RMA WG will pursue the following activities under this workstream:
- Establish a proactive and direct link from country-level contraceptive security committees to each of the Coalition’s three Working Groups
- Encourage governments of less developed nations to join the Coalition, working with both Ministries of Health and Finance
- Facilitate alliances among NGOs, civil society, and other Coalition members around RH supplies, while ensuring harmonization and non-duplication
- Assist in the development of the Coalition’s Focus Country Pages on the website, by providing input on advocacy activities and opportunities at the country level
Anticipated outcomes of this workstream include:
- The Coalition is recognized as a valuable contributor toward evidence-based in-country advocacy strategies
- Governments, NGO, and civil society organizations from less-developed countries will become active members of the Coalition
- The Coalition will increase its role as a forum for country-to-country, donor, and partner collaboration and coordination to improve availability, predictability, and sustainability of financing for RH supplies
