The Resource Mobilization and Awareness Working Group (RMA WG) aims to achieve reproductive health supplies security by building partnerships with key stakeholders, raising awareness of RH supplies issues, and mobilizing funding for RH supplies. 

Members of the RMA WG engage in country, regional, and global level advocacy as it relates to political and financial commitment to supplies.  

The RMA WG has committed itself to supporting the HANDtoHAND Campaign which has as its goal to reach 100 million additional users of family planning by 2015.

Workstreams

To meet the above goals, the RMA WG is currently engaged activities to mee the following global and national objectives, for more details please check out the workplan at right:

Global objectives:

  1. Regional entities prioritize and provide funds for contraceptive supply chains and logistics to improve efficiency and ensure that quality commodities reach prospective users reliably and on time.
  2. Organization review of task shifting/ service delivery protocols and guidelines for MNH to include family planning (consultation early 2012).
  3. Governments invest in family planning after seeing country expenditures and the results achieved via South-South, regional and global advocacy.
  4. UN Global Strategy on Women and Children’s Health meets commitments to family planning.
  5. The Priority Medicines for Women and Children includes contraceptives—at least one long-acting and one permanent method. 
  6. Donor funding meets gap in funding for the full package of maternal, newborn and child health (as per Countdown 2015) needed to achieve MDG 5.

National objectives:

Work at the national level is taking place in Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda and focused on technical as well as policy issues related to ensuring commodity security. For more details please check out the workplan
