January 2012
MDAWG members came together for their first meeting of 2012 on 24 January. Participants discussed the idea of a face-to-face meeting for the Working Group on the West coast of the US sometime in March or April. A small group was formed to discuss the idea and come up with an initial agenda, which will be shared at the next teleconference. Information was also shared on recent gatherings relevant to the MDAWG, incuding a meeting on multipurpose prevention technologies, and a gathering of evidence on new and underused technologies (emergency contraception, female condoms, and implants) for the UN Commission on Commodities for Maternal and Child Health. Finally, Ben notified the group that his term as Working Group Leader is ending and it is time to have an election. More details will be shared on this soon. The next meeting will be 14 February.
