Goal 2: Strengthen the capacity of health systems to deliver reproductive health (RH) supplies in a sustainable manner
Through countries, member organizations, and other global health partnerships, the Coalition aims to strengthen and sustain systems for managing and distributing RH supplies. These include systems for informed decision-making, assuring the quality of RH products, and matching country needs with available technical assistance.
The Coalition acknowledges that even under the best circumstances, systems will fail, and that rational responses to such failures are required to assure commodity security. For that reason, the Coalition will strengthen global systems for addressing emergency stockouts and for including RH supplies in responses to countries suffering from conflict, disasters, and other crises.
The focus areas under this Goal address the broad spectrum of contexts within which strengthened systems are needed: from stable contexts at the global and/or country level to temporary system failures, to contexts where systems have broken down or do not exist.
At country and global levels, strengthen and sustain functional RH supply chains
- More countries with plans and management structures to strengthen public sector supply systems
- More countries with effective RH supply chains in the public, private and commercial sectors
- More countries and organizations procuring prequalified RH supplies
- More tools and resources available to oversee and manage global RH supplies
Provide coordinated response to RH supply disruptions
- More RH supply disruptions averted at the national level
Support a coordinated response to provide RH supplies to countries in crisis
- More and wider range of RH supplies in emergency responses to countries suffering from conflict and natural disasters
