Julia Bunting is Director: Programmes and Technical at The International Planned Parenthood Federation, London. She holds a BA (Hons) in Human Science from St. Catherine's College, Oxford and an MSc in Medical Demography from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Julia began her career at the UK's Office for National Statistics (ONS) where she worked in the Demography and Health Division.
Since joining DFID in 2000, Julia has led the agency’s work in building international statistical capacity. Julia served as DFID’s regional statistics adviser in South Africa before returning to London in 2004 to join the then Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Team. During this time she led the UK Government's efforts to secure the new reproductive health target in the MDGs. In May 2006, Julia became Deputy Team Leader and continued in that role through the RCH Team’s merger with Global AIDS Policy in May 2007. In 2009, she was appointed Team Leader of the joint AIDS and Reproductive Health Team.
Julia is a founding board member of the Health Metrics Network and has been involved in numerous international global health initiatives, including Prime Minister Stoltenberg of Norway's Global Campaign for the Health-related MDGs and the Network of Global Leaders on MDGs 4 and 5.
